Strengthening the mind is a huge step to building up confidence. If you do not take time for yourself, you will never be your own person. Take just a few minutes out of your day to do yoga or read a few pages of your favorite book, or something that can nourish the mind, body, and spirit. —Dustin Cucciarre, BryghtAds Inc.
Recognizing your value outside of your work is another huge step to building self-confidence. You have to realize that your success is rooted in your success outside of the work place. No matter how well you are doing professionally, your true value lies with the things you do and accomplish everyday. You should find ways to get connected with yourself and grow as a person in order to increase your value. Try volunteering, working out, or even just hanging out with friends. Know your worth. —Darrah Brustein, Network Under 40 / Finance Whiz Kids

“The most effective successful influential people look in the mirror every day to ask themselves, ‘What do I need to do differently today?’” — Todd Davis. From time to time people need to take a self-evaluation of their life and think to themselves, "What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do differently?". This statement is so important in life because it can help keep you on track and push you to being the best, most successful you there is. I, myself, am constantly asking myself this question and pushing myself to make the changes needed in order to be successful in life. I was told by my parents, "Make the hard and difficult choices now so you don't have to later in life." The hard part of it all is, even though something is fun and comfortable, that doesn't mean you need that thing in your life to be successful. Don't be one of those people that are too scared to make the changes needed in life, because they're scared it will upset someone or not help. When it comes to your success and happiness, you, sometimes, have to be selfish.
Friendship, Intentness, and self-control are the most important to me from this pyramid. Friendship is the base of any relationship, be it friendly or professionally. You have to have some sort of mutual respect for one another. You have to form some kind of understanding with one another in order to be successful. If you want to reach for the stars you better grab a tall enough ladder. Intentness is very important for anyone with big dreams. You have to start off with realistic goals that can be achieved through hard work in order to make those big dreams possible. It could be something as small as making your bed every morning. If you are able to do that, you are one goal closer to what you want. In order to accomplish Intentness you have to have self-control. I feel like these two go hand-in-hand. Keep your emotions under control when times get hard, the struggle will be worth it in the end. When choosing your realistic goals, don't forget to use good judgement when deciding how to achieve them.
Dr. Maya Angelou is completely right when she says love liberates. It gives you a sense of not being alone. If you have love, you are never alone. I have watched my great grandmother love everything and everyone she came a crossed, even if it were for a few minutes. She also had cancer and grew very ill like Maya Angelou's mother. It wasn't until her entire family was around her, surrounding her with love, did she pass. I'll never forget the love she showed everyone and I hope someday I can be as wonderful as these great women.
I completely agree, in order to be your best self, you must take responsibility for your own success and do whatever it takes to achieve it. Surround yourself with people that will help you grow towards your goals, not people who will drag you down. If you surround yourself with people with the same drive and ambition that you have, you can feed off that drive and go farther than you ever deemed possible.
Jim Rohn was an American entrepreneur and a motivational speaker. He focused on the fundamentals of human behavior. He was able to capture the imagination of those who hear or read his words. The quote, "Life is not just the passing of time. Life is the collection of experiences and their intensity" speaks to me. It reminds me of how I see life. So many people are too scared to do anything adventurous, so they stay safe to lengthen their lives. They do not realize that life is too short to be safe and non adventurous. There is a whole world just waiting to be experienced and explored.
"The true measure of success is how many times you can bounce back from failure." - Stephen RichardsI completely agree with this quote. No one ever was successful on their first try, It takes a lot of trial and error to truly be successful. Each time you fall you have to get back up and try harder. Each time you bounce back, you are learning from your mistakes which, overall, makes you a more successful person.
